Education ministry in staff recruitment scandal

Nairobi - The Standard reports that the Ministry of Education has conceded there was irregular recruitment of 2,074 low cadre staff to take up various positions in the Ministry in 2010.

The recruitment failed the integrity tests as an audit revealed that those who got the jobs did not apply neither were they shortlisted. On the flip side some of those who qualified were never given the jobs.

Appearing before the Parliamentary Committee on Equal Opportunity Education Minister Mutula Kilonzo said the recruitment was a mistake and there was no way he could defend it.
