WB hails Kenya

21 February 2012, 14:04

Nairobi - Capital News reports that the World Bank has lauded the government for opening up access to State information through the Kenya Open Data Initiative (KODI).

In her statement, World Bank Managing Director Caroline Anstey said the initiative launched by President Mwai Kibaki in July last year grants citizens access to information which ultimately spreads knowledge, creating transparency and accountability.

Anstey went on to add that the move by Kenya of opening up data, is proof that it is changing the balance of power with recognition that others have the right to know.
