54 year old man was found dead

01 March 2012, 15:13 Anthony Muriuki Muthuri

Police have launched  investigations to determine an incident that occurred in kirimene location miiraga mieru east in Meru County  where a  54 year old  man was found dead within his home compound.

Confirming the shocking incident, north imenti OCPD, Mr. james kithuka   said the lifeless   body of Joseph Chokera Kiunga was found lying in his compound by his neighbor Girrion Kaumbuthu who had paid him a visit  in the morning.

Girrion who was shocked by the situation quickly responded to the matter by informing the  area assistant chief, Mr. Silas Mwenda who further brought it to the attention of the police.

The police boss also pointed out that so far the police had gathered information that  the deceased  had been left by his wife a week ago to check on her relatives and he was left in the company of a six year old boy . The boy who was said to be a relative of the couple was said to have lived with them  as his parents were not in a position to cater for the boys' basic provisions.

The police boss also said they suspected the old man could have been drinking a lot of  alcohol without adequate food intake saying those who went to the scene found five empty bottles of alcoholic beverage next to the body of the deceased.

Mr. Kithuka also said there was a possibility that the deceased old man had intentionally taken excess alcohol without eating any form to take away his life saying the same would be confirmed or ruled out on the completion of the ongoing police investigations on the matter.
