The outgoing Malindi MP Gideon Mung'aro has dismissed claims that he has been involved in selling public land in Malindi district to Italian investors.
Mung'aro said the land in question, Marine Park, which was leased to Italian Billionaire Flavio Briatore by Kenya Wildlife Services.
The MP said KWS leased the land to the Italian investor who is currently constructing an International hotel, Billionaires Resort, which is an exclusive hotel in the area and Africa at large.
"I have not sold any land. Those are just my critics and I have no problem with them. What I know is that the land in question belongs to KWS and they are the ones who leased it," he said.
He said whoever has doubts over the land and has prove that he has sold it can move to court.
"I can't be in the forefront fighting for land and at the same time selling locals' lands to investors its very wrong.
Those are people who want to tarnish my reputation in politics but i tell them they have failed," he added.
His sentiments came barely a few days after politicians who attended Jubilee alliance campaign rally at Watamu in Malindi which was attended by among them the presidential aspirant Uhuru Kenyatta accused him for allegedly stealing public land and selling it to the investors for his own benefit.
The Billionaires Resort which is expected to be completed early this year will cost KES 500 million and will offer butlers services with youths in the area getting training from abroad to work there.
Malindi residents have been protesting against the construction of the resort owing to the land grabbing claims.
Mung'aro said once elected MP for Kilifi North, he will recover all grabbed land in the area.
"In Chembe Kibabamche I fought Italians and took land that they had grabbed from the locals. The same axe will fall on those who have grabbed land in Kilifi North," he said.
