Brothers kill sibling for slapping their mother

01 January 2013, 13:41 Alloys Musyoka

Police officers in Malindi district have launched manhunt for two brothers who allegedly murdered their brother who differed with their mother forcing him to slap her.

Area assistant Chief Joshua Malingi said the deceased was under the influence of alcohol when he quarreled with his mother and accused her of planting paraphernalia in his business to ensure that he does not prosper.

"The deceased differed with his mother over witchcraft claims. He then slapped his mother who raised a distress call. His two brothers came to her rescue and in turn responded by senselessly killing him," explained the chief.

He said that the woman denied the witchcraft allegations but the deceased, Fondp Hamisi Mkutano, slapped her leading to the immediate turn of events that in turn led to his immediate death.

Malingi explained that the two brothers descended on their drunken brother with blows and kicks until he fell down unconscious and then died.

According to the chief, the duo disappeared on a motorcycle to an unknown destination upon recognizing that their brother had died after the attacks.

"Up to now they are still at large but police are pursuing them so they can be brought to book," he said.

Malindi district police boss Kiprono Lang’at confirmed the incident and said his officers are pursuing the killer brothers.

He said his officers are following information to trace the duo who escaped by motorcycle.

Kiprono said the body of the deceased was taken to Malindi district mortuary as investigation into the matter begins.

"For the time being my officers are pursuing the two and we are sure they will be arrested and taken to court," he noted.

Cases of murder resulting from family disputes in different parts of the country have been on the rise.
