Collect your new ID cards before March 4

26 February 2013, 18:34 Steve Wambugu

Registrar of Person South Rift Region Thomas Gikonde has said there are 12 000 uncollected Identity Cards at the main offices in Nakuru town.

While addressing the media on Monday, Gikonde said most of the uncollected Identities Cards were from first timers adding that majority of them were youths.

“We have a total of 12 000 uncollected ID cards in our offices and it’s so unfortunate that most of them are for the youths,” he said.

The Registrar of persons added that there were 4 000 uncollected duplicates of ID cards which need to be collected before the March 4th polls.

He further said these were ID cards which were registered in January and early February this year.

Gikonde made an appeal for the owners of the ID cards to collect them so as to practice their democratic right of voting for their leaders in the coming polls next week.

“We want the owners of these ID cards to come and collect them because we want them to practice their democratic right of voting for their preferred leaders,” said Gikonde.
