Nakuru’s town worse nightmares of land for cemetery and dump cite has returned, the town’s residence are now forced to dig up the old graves so as to lay their loved once to rest due to lack of space in the town’s graveyards.

According to Nakuru town Mayor, Mohamed Suraw said the situation received a major blow when the owner of a piece of land they had intended to buy refused to sell it to the council complicating the whole equation of buying the graveyard.

“We had sorted to buy a piece of land from one individual who was willing to sell to us but during the last minute of finalizing the paper work he decided to change his mind leaving the whole process in despair.” Said the Mayor.

The issue of cemetery is not the only problem that the town is dealing with, just last week the council of Nakuru suffered another setback on its quest to relocate the dump site of Gioto after the money that they had been allocated was withheld back after a letter to French Development Agency reviled there was no progress in finding of a new piece of land.

The project which had been allocated to receive Kshs 700 million from the French agency for the purchase of land and the develop it into a sanitary land fill was at its final stages when the money was suspended.

With the two issues remaining to be seen to be resolved any time soon, the town’s residence may be forced to cop up with the situation until late next year bearing in mind the elections might be held this year or early next year.
