New measures to curb water shortage

01 February 2013, 17:12 Steve Wambugu

The Nakuru Water and Sanitation Company (NARUWASCO) has come up with new measures that will help address the acute water shortage that has been affecting many residents in Nakuru for months now.

The water supplying company has decided to come up with these stringent measures following an outcry from business people in the town.

In a press statement issued to media houses on Thursday evening, managing director engineer Job Tomno said that the company had decided to take this measure so as to curb the increasing demand of water in the area.

Job however regretted that some of the boreholes that supply the town with water normally breakdown affecting water to homesteads.

He also noted that short term and long term measures were currently being explored by the water company as a one way of increasing water supply.

However, Job said that water rationing will remain in place at the moment until normal supply of water resumes.

In an effort to reassure the residents that water shortage will be resolved, the MD said it was imperative for the residents who have been experiencing water shortage to remain patient as the the company explores the new measures.
