Kenya Wild Service rangers on Monday night shot and killed one poacher at Lake Nakuru National Park as they attempted to trap some rhinos at the park
According to the Senior Park Warden John Wambua, the poacher was in a group of three others who managed to escape after KWS rangers engaged them in a shoot out late at night.
Wambua said that his KWS rangers spotted the poachers as they were about to kill a family of white rhinos before the rangers opened fire.
He added that a M16 gun was recovered together with seven rounds ammunition from the fallen poacher.
“We are still on the look out for the three poachers who escaped and we urge the public to come out and give any information that might help us with arrests,” said the Senior Warden.
Wambua further explained that the poachers were on a mission of trapping a white rhino at Makalia falls in the park but their plans failed to go through, thanking the public for their continued support in the fight against poaching.
