17 January 2013, 14:42 Wangui Joseph

A man is fighting for his life at Outspan Hospital Nyeri after he was grieviously assaulted during campaigns on Wednesday afternoon at Mweiga market in Kieni constituency.

The incident occurred after supporters of two populous aspirants collided in mid of their campaigns wooing voters for their support in today’s nominations.

James Mathenge met Njoroge Wainaina’s supporters near Mweiga market and violence emerged between the two rival convoys.

Three people were seriously injured and were rushed to Outspan hospital where two were treated and discharged.

Njoroge Wainaina also a prominenet business man in Kieni, Nanyuki and Narumoru later went to console the victims.

In the same constituency, former MP Nemesys Warugongo has ditched The National Alliance-TNA party to Democratic Party-DP arguing that TNA is not open and predicted that the primaries will be full of violence and devoid of fairness.

Warugongo also said he has moved to a democratic party which is not supportive to any candidate terming TNA as a party of some people and has its preferred candidates notwithstanding nominations factual.
