Raila: We will win in the first round

25 February 2013, 12:25 Steve Wambugu

CORD alliance pitched camp at Afraha Stadium in Nakuru town over the weekend where Prime Minister Raila Odinga expressed confidence they will win the March 4th general elections in the first round.

The Prime Minister said his alliance had followers from each and every county and that Kenyans are ready for change which will be brought in by CORD Alliance.

“We have followers in each and every county and we will win in the first round,” he said.

Raila hit out at his political opponents saying they cannot be trusted with leadership of the country, especially those with questionable leadership qualities.

Youth to become job creators, not job seekers

He further said CORD will strive to empower youths by making them job creators and not job seekers.

The PM pointed out that other presidential candidates were busy campaigning on how they will improve infrastructure of the country while forgetting the need to empower youths.

“These other leaders are busy saying they will improve infrastructure but they are not saying how they will empower the youths,” lamented the PM.

Giving land to IDPs a show of patriotism

At the same time, he asked Jubilee flag bearer Uhuru Kenyatta to give up some of the land under his possession to IDPs if he is truly patriotic to his country.

Raila urged the Nakuru electorates to remain peaceful during the elections saying he was ready to accept the outcome of the March 4th polls.

CORD not a tribal outfit

While speaking at the same rally, Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka who is also Raila's running mate said CORD was well placed to serve Kenyans since it was not a tribal alliance as compared to other political outfits.

“CORD has all it takes to become the next government because this is not a tribal alliance like others,” he observed.

Kalonzo further pointed out that the CORD government will ensure there is free medical service in all the government hospitals within 100 days in power, if elected.

Other leaders who attended the political rally were Franklin Bet, James Orengo and Moses Wetangula.

The alliance is expected to hold its final campaigns in Kisumu and Nairobi respectively later this week.
