Son hacks father to death

31 December 2012, 10:11 Tonny Karomo

A drinking spree to climax Christmas celebrations turned tragic after a 30 year old son hacked his father to death at Ndamene location in Imenti South District of Meru County.

Confirming the incident, area police boss John Cheruiyot said the two spent the whole day in a drinking spree before the son killed his 60 year old father after a family disagreement.

He said the assailant, Geoffrey Kathia, who escaped after committing the crime stabbed his father severally before hitting him with an iron bar on the head and killing him instantly.

The OCPD added the deceased, Murithi Kamaithu, together with his son were reported to arrive at the drinking den in a jovial mood at around 10.00 Am on Boxing Day before the two got drunk and started quarreling.

The body was removed to Meru Level Five hospital mortuary but the assailant is still at large.
