Tourist nabbed sodomizing beach boy

29 November 2012, 17:31 Alloys Musyoka

Police officers in Malindi have arrested a 75 years old tourist for allegedly sodomizing a 30 year old man at Casuarina area.

Sources told the media that police caught the two having the affair in a residential house after a tip off from members of public.

Ignesti Prolo and Masala Kahindi were arrested by tourist police and escorted to Malindi district hospital for tests to confirm if they had had affairs before.

There was drama at the hospital when the Italian national  attempted to rough up on journalist who were taking his pictures as he waited outside.

The local TV cameraman and his radio counterpart were rescued from the enraged tourist by the police.

"Why are you taking my pictures? I have just come here to be tested. I am sick; I will beat you," said the tourist while firing insults in his mother tongue.

The journalists who were scared to death had to run away for their safety.

The two were then escorted to Malindi police station where they spent the whole night as investigation was being carried out.

Sources from the hospital indicated that results of the two tested negative, a clear indication that there were no previous affairs between the two.

The source who refused to be named claimed that it was a deal between the beach boy and police to extort money from the tourist.

"This was a game but it has aborted and these are cases that have been going on in Malindi. Some cartels work with police to accuse tourist of illicit affairs with their children and threaten them so that they can 'cough' a fortune for the case to be dropped. I think for this case, the tourist was clever," said the source.

The source went further to add that there is a big problem within the tourist police force.

He urged the government to intervene and investigate such cases which are said to even have involved top police officers.

Malindi district tourist police officer Otumu Dulo refused to discuss the issue with journalists claiming he had no information and that Malindi police boss was the only person allowed to speak to the press.

However, the OCPD Kiprono Lang'at told journalists that he was out of town and that he had not been briefed on the issue by his juniors.

"I have just arrived ... and will come back to you after I have all information please," posed the OCPD.
