Woman assaulted by in laws

28 January 2013, 16:20 Anthony Muriuki

A scene unfolded in Meru as a middle aged woman was mutilated by her in laws in the presence of her two year old child.

The victim was accosted by a group of women led by her mother in law who left her to starve in pain for two days after the attack.

She is believed to have been set up by her husband and parents in law who since then are at large after receiving reports that security officers were searching for them.

The victim was saved by her mother who had gone visiting when she found her helplessly lying on her bed and then reported the matter to the police before taking her to the hospital.

Her mother says she was teased by her in law who claimed that they had the support of the chief and his assistant because they had bribed them.

Area residents condemned the action and called upon the government to ensure the chiefs together with the assault suspects are arrested and taken to court.

The lady has been treated and released but is under the care of her parents together with her 2 year old.
