Aspirants won't be vetted by the anti-graft body

Nairobi - The Standard reports aspirants for various political posts in the coming election will not be vetted by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC).

According to EACC vice chair Irene Keino, the Commission’s powers were clipped in the watered down Leadership and Integrity Chapter that left the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) as the only body mandated to bar the candidates from contesting if they have questionable character.

Keino said that as the commission they can only recommend to IEBC but cannot stop a candidate from contesting.
