High alert as hunt for SLDF leader kicks off

03 January 2013, 14:31

Cheptais - The search for a former deputy commander of the defunct Sabaot Land Defence Force (SLDF), David Sichei Chemaimak has begun, Cheptais District Commissioner Omar Salat has said.

According to The Standard, law enforcement officers in Cheptais District, Mt Elgon Constituency are looking for the militia leader who has been on the run since 2008.

Speaking to journalists after chairing a district security meeting at the Mt Elgon CDF offices hall in Cheptais, Salat said security agents are hunting down Sichei, a former General Service Unit officer attached to the Recce Company, who is believed to be the de-facto leader of the militia group that reigned terror on residents of the region.
