Kibaki assents to Presidential Retirement Benefits Bill

Nairobi - President Kibaki assented to the amended Presidential Retirement Benefits Bill.

According to The Standard, this came shortly after Civil society leaders staged protests against the hefty presidential send off perk.

Initially, Kibaki had rejected the Bill that granted key state officers a hefty retirement perk, sending it back to AG for review.
