MPs oppose Mudavadi as compromise candidate

06 December 2012, 17:07

Nairobi - About 40 MPs allied to The National Alliance (TNA) on Thursday said Deputy Prime Minister Uhuru Kenyatta will not step down in favour of Musalia Mudavadi and threatened a mass walkout from coalition if he does.

According to the Standard, the MPs said Uhuru was the TNA presidential candidate and they will not settle for less.

On Wednesday, sources close to Uhuru indicated that Uhuru and Eldoret North MP William Ruto are considering Mudavadi of the United Democratic Front (UDF) as a compromise candidate should they not run, to counter Prime Minister Raila Odinga and Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka’s coalition.
